Holding on to anger is like grasping a hot coal
with the intent of throwing it at someone else;
you are the one who gets burned.
Siddhartha Gautama Buddha (c. 6th/5th century BCE)
That one is hard to argue with!
Get angry, yes, fine, that does happen!
But hold on to it? Day after day, week after week?
Another name for that is ‘resentment’ – and resentments will
surely kill your soul and leech life from you. Even small ones. For
they accumulate into a high pile so huge you see nothing beyond your
own circumscribed imploding universe of personal rage, anger, and resentment.
