Hanging cherries

This little effort at a still life was a very early one – and it shows!
There are lots of things wrong here, both compositionally
and in execution, but I do recall being quite taken
with the result: of course; that was quite a
while before I had really developed
any sense of how a good
painting should
look!
Why,
then, put it up
here?  Well, as noted,
it was a baby so to speak and all
parents will understand that the first one
is, well, special in every sense of the word.  And
for all that, it is not the very worst still life that was ever
painted – by tyro or master.  I like it, and accept it for what it is!
